GWAC meets May 3

The Governor Wentworth Arts Council will meet on Thursday, May 3 at 7 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, North Main Street, Wolfeboro. After a brief business meeting, Corina Willette will demonstrate oil painting on 5′ by 3′ panels. She will feature a series she is working on that involves painting the nude female body and aging, and will show her progression through panels that are in various stages of completion. The public is invited to attend, and light refreshments will be served.

Items on the agenda for the business meeting include the Artists in the Park, Paint the Town and Just Desserts events, and more.
 

Hodges Watercolor Workshop May 8-10

A Spring Watercolor Workshop will be conducted by Massachusetts  artist Tom Sutherland at the Todaro Center at Camp North Woods in Tuftonboro, NH, on Tuesday, May 8, Wednesday, May 9, and Thursday, May 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.   The cost for GWAC members is $150 and for non-members the cost will be $266 (the actual cost of the workshop), The workshop will be limited to 15 students and will be offered to artists of all levels. Visual Arts Scholarship Applications Due April 1

High school students who live in the Governor Wentworth Regional School District and who plan to attend a degree-granting art college can apply for the second annual Visual Arts Scholarship to be awarded by the Governor Wentworth Arts Council in 2012.  Applications are due April 1.

The award will be given to a talented student(s) who has been accepted to a college in the fall of 2012. An applicant must: be a graduating student living within the Governor Wentworth Regional School District (home-schooled students also are eligible); complete the general Common Application form (can be downloaded online through the Kingswood Regional High School Guidance office); show proof of college acceptance; and submit an electronic copy of his or her portfolio (CD or DVD) along with the application.  The
