Long-time Governor Wentworth Arts Council member and supporter Elizabeth “Betty” O’Connell passed away on November 26. She was the wife of the late John M. O’Connell, local businessman and well-known artist. Betty was an active volunteer, becoming one of the earliest members of the Governor Wentworth Arts Council, acting as the group’s long-term secretary and as its treasurer. Betty was significantly involved in the annual Artists in the Park event in Cate Park. At the request of Betty’s family, memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s name to the Governor Wentworth Arts Council, PO Box 1578, Wolfeboro, NH 03894, or to the parish of St. Katherine Drexel.
It’s time to renew your membership in the Governor Wentworth Arts Council for 2013-14. Membership is just $20 per household per year. Benefits of membership include monthly email updates, a quarterly e-newsletter that provides members and arts supporters with information on current arts events. In addition, artist members of GWAC have the opportunity to feature their work on the group’s web site and to display it for sale at several Wolfeboro venues.
Your name will also be added to the mailing list for special GWAC arts gatherings, workshops, and seasonal activities.
The arts council uses membership fees, donations and proceeds from actities to fund arts programs in area schools and libraries as well as special events and grants to cultural non-profits in the community.

Gather your friends and family for a fun Jazz Cruise aboard the WinniBelle on Friday, September 20 — and support the Visual Arts Scholarship at the same time!
