Liz Helfer grew up in New Durham and attended the Wolfeboro public schools from nursery school at the train station through graduation at Kingswood Regional High School. Liz pursued sculpture and received her BFA from Alfred University in 2010. Liz Helfer Studios is located in Cambridge, MA, where she creates metal and mixed media sculpture. In addition to creating commissioned work, she is the Coordinator of Hatch Makerspace run by the Watertown Free Public Library, a public workshop dedicated to bringing tools and knowledge to makers in the greater Boston area. In conjunction with her love of new technologies for making, she holds a firm belief in the relevance of historical innovation and is the co-Chair of Presentations for the National Conference on Contemporary Cast Iron Art and Practices in Birmingham, AL.
